Vacancy - Friends Community Farm - Group Support Worker (Sessional)
An opportunity has arisen to be part of an exciting project.
We are looking for occasional sessional workers to work on our community Care Farm in Assington.
The Befriending Scheme (TBS) is an established charity set up 32 years ago, to provide friendship and learning opportunities for vulnerable adults aged 16+. An exciting recent development is the setting up of a community farm, near Sudbury, that provides ongoing and one-off placements for vulnerable adults, young people and families - especially those with learning and/or physical disabilities.
We are looking for an energetic individual with sound organisational and practical skills who has the ability to think creatively and can be flexible and dynamic in their approach.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Farm Manager and be responsible for working to a programme of, and managing, group activities.
You should be a competent cook and have experience of teaching life and independent living skills.
A sound knowledge of horticulture is essential as is an ability to manage DIY projects on the Farm. Experience of working with vulnerable people or those with learning disabilities is highly desirable
This post is designed to provide occasional cover for busy days and for staff absences and annual leave.
The successful candidate should be able to work in a flexible way, including weekends and some bank holidays.
